The inaugural Sweat Local Columbus 5k was created to celebrate it’s mission-- utilizing Columbus’ local businesses to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Local Matters.
Sweat Local Columbus focuses on local, homegrown, establishments: restaurants, cafes, fitness studios, retail shops, juice bars, and the people who frequent them. We are about bringing together Columbus’ healthy community of runners, spinners, box jumpers, yogis, barrers, and kale eaters, and uniting over the common theme - The love of all things health and fitness made and located in Columbus.
After the 5k, runners are invited to attend the Sweat Local Columbus Expo that is right at the finish line. There are many locally owned fitness studios and business in Columbus, and this is your opportunity to check them all out at the same time. Sweat Local Columbus is for everyone--beginners and people already active in the health/fitness world. It’s an opportunity for people to experience the boutique fitness studios and companies that makes Columbus one of the healthiest cities in the country.
People can step out of their comfort zone. A runner who might want to introduce yoga into his training routine to prevent cramping and general soreness can try out a quick yoga class. Someone who has never seen or taken a crossfit class, and might surprise himself with how much they enjoy the teaser class. Someone totally new to the fitness world would benefit from being exposed to different studios showcasing what they had to offer without subjecting someone to the pressure of showing up and performing in front of a group of experienced crossfitters/yogis/etc.
Not interested in trying out the classes? No problem. Visit booths, taste food samples, get free classes and coupons, and meet other people who also appreciate all that Columbus has to offer.
